Heavy
Heavy is a robot designed to carry stuff on the ground painless.

Modular
Sized for 80cm metallic cases, it can also carry wood boxes, a flat platform or anything thanks to many fixing holes on the frame.
Remote control
A DSMX receiver with two hi-gain antennas and a custom driving logic allows to control it everywhere with one single stick.

You can drive it with one hand and drink something with the other one.
Integral tank-like transmission
The wheels of each side are coupled to a motor by chains, without suspension system to stay light.

This allows it to move like a tank and rotate on 360°. Even when one or two wheels doesn't touch the ground.
Tactical spirit
Light grey and agile like an EOD robot, Heavy was initialy built to bring airsoft equipment from a carpark to a safe zone.

The case which contains the battery and electronic is an old genuine Giat © ammo box from the french army. It was modified to let space for the motors, for the cooling system, 2 status leds indicate the battery level, the connection state and error codes.
Low speed, high torque
Heavy is not designed for the race, it moves at the same speed of a walking man.

But the geared motors are able to bring up to 100 kg on flat surface and up to 50kg offroad.
Extension port
On the top of the unit, a connector is directly wired to the controller and the power supply to allow to add future functionalities.

There are 12 pins giving acces to the main power, regulated 5v, some GPIOs, one UART and one SPI.

So it is easy to add sensors, fpv cameras, tracking systems or simply charge your phone.
Compact and lightweight
Heavy was designed to be used everywhere. So it is sized for the boot of a medium car.

Extension : Auto follow
The first extension for Heavy will add an auto follow mode.

A specialized camera module (the wonderful Pixy2) is used to track optically a colored target like an orange flashy cap or a shirt. Then, the coordinate of this target is given to the main microcontroller of Heavy thanks to the SPI connection available in the extension port.
Some steps
The frame, the tank mods, the adaptor plates and the electronic are specialy hand made :
